Hear It From Me

Welcome to my blog.
After realizing the dread that my daughters don’t have a clue when they hear the typical desi names for various spices like: Sounth, Kalonji, Dalchini, Javetry , Jaifal etc ; i decided to bid farewell to my procrastination and compile
some of  our family favorite recipes. Most of these dishes are cooked with a pang of agitation as my eldest one persistently asks for a very specific kind of Alfredo sauce once a week; and maybe twice if she’s studying too much :-) .I really don’t own all these recipes as the credit is to be duly shared with all the dazzling / beautiful souls who I have had encountered in the Land of Pharaohs or while socializing in different expat moms club at Abu Dhabi, or those vegetarian meal we eat with grief in various Orange county restaurants 😂 There is a huge influence of  BBC and allrecipes.com too though these are sprinkled with a bit of a desi and oriental flavor.

Life has taught me that we are all just a composition of the thoughts we have, the paths we travel and most importantly the choices we make. Food being the most important one of course.Everyday you can go to the kitchen and opt to try something different whether it’s a new linguini recipe or learn how to perfect the hollandaise sauce to pour over your benedicts in the morning. The power of food radiates through everyone’s heart it can literally alleviate Abu Dhabi’s 51 degrees heat if you make a hearty meal and surprise your family ,I can vouch for this ,you should see my little one after she smells her favourite Mac-n-Cheese.
My third culture kids have taught me many things and one of them is food diversity. Our day to day food doesn't belong to any one cuisine. We are not really biased when it comes to food. We always instantly like new flavors and cuisine. Also, all the places that we have lived or visited, we would always want to try the local cuisine and soon those dishes would find their way into my kitchen. Thats how things work in the Shah’s household.
