Thanks giving is pretty new celebration for our family, one we never even knew much before moving to US. Last year was our first thanksgiving so we observed and absorbed and here we are all ready to throw a celebration at home this year Alhamdulilah. As you know my last blog was gratitude breakfast that we had for our Californian clan last week, we tried to have a simple one last night with our immediate family. So last evening as i was missing my husband, i was also being thankful for my eldest who would be moving to university soon leaving mommy to deal with the hardest of motherhood shades. How ironical it is that these little human beings occupy all the place in your heart and home and then one day they depart on their own journey leaving you alone. These days my every thought is revolving around her departure and what a void she would leave behind. She is not only my closest ally at home, she is also my aesthetic partner in crime. Her creativity always helps me come up with new themes for celebration and ideas for table decor. Moreover, her social media awareness enlightens my outdated self and pushes me back in the modern arena.

Last night’s dinner was our exclusive family time. We decorated the table with diy stuff and kept the menu simple. We ditched turkey for duck as it’s always a family favorite. We chose sweet potato casserole, corn bread and butter dinner rolls as sides followed by pecan pie fresh from the oven. And oh the sparkle apple sider ( non alcoholic one ofcourse 😜) as they look fancy on the table lol. My little one was busy all evening working on her ginger bread house that we happily placed on our table.

My middle one is really good at finding family games and she forced us to play “what i ate for thanksgiving “ while the sensational music was on to make sure we all lose. Her little sister followed with “never have I ever” where everyone disclosed some secret 😎 we also had some deep question sessions as well. By the time we finished, I realized how messy the house was and that was the time for mommy to be a little unthankful and start her never ending nagging 😂😂
